Federal Nonprofit Organization
The Christian Scholarship Fund of Arizona is a registered nonprofit organization as defined by the United States Internal Revenue Code section 501(c).

501(c)(3) exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund, or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, educational, and/or charitable purposes. Many foundations and corporate matching programs do not grant funds to a charity without such status.

Before donating to a 501(c)(3) organization, a donor may wish to review IRS Publication 78, which lists organizations currently exempt under 501(c)(3).

You can view the complete IRS Publication 78 on their website, here.

Arizona School Tuition Organization
The Christian Scholarship Fund of Arizona also a registered School Tuition Organization as defined by the Arizona Department of Revenue.

A tuition tax credit is similar to most other familiar tax credits. Certain states allow individuals and/or businesses to deduct a certain amount of their income taxes to donate to education. Depending on the program, these donations can either go to a public school or to a School Tuition Organization (STO), or both. The donations that go to School Tuition Organizations are used by the STO to create scholarships that are then given to students. These programs currently exist in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

Arizona has probably the most well known and fastest growing tax credit program. In the Arizona School Tuition Organization Tax Credit program individuals can deduct up to $500 and couples filing joint returns can deduct up to $1000. About 20,000 children received scholarships in the 2003-2004 school year. Since the program has started in 1998, over 77,000 scholarships have been granted.

The Arizona Department of Revenue publishes lists of Private School Tuition Organizations as a public service.

You can view the STO list on their website, here.
The current list as of July 2010 can be seen here.
